2011 is the seventh year of the RAAM Awards which were established to celebrate excellence in the UK and Irish cinema and film distribution industry. The "RAAMs" is an established and important awards date in the cinema exhibition and film distribution calendar. Each year more than 200 top executives, the key players in the cinema exhibition and film distribution, attend the awards. It is the only event in the UK calendar where they meet on a social level. The RAAM Awards is the premier cinema industry networking opportunity.
The Awards recognise and reward the efforts, achievements and successes of companies and individuals who work in the industry at every level; the people who make the experience of 'going to the Movies' a regular occasion enjoyed by over 175 million people in the UK and Ireland every year.
Awards are presented across a range of categories for example Innovation in Cinema. The Cinema of the Year award requires companies to demonstrate what they offered their customers made "the difference" to their cinema experience.
Industry achievement awards are presented to leaders in the International arena, Film Distribution and Exhibition. Previous recipients include; Richard Attenborough, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (Bond Series), Danny Boyle, Peter Bart (Love Story, Godfather, China Town).
